Miss Virginia Jr. Teen United States 2007

The New Miss Virginia Jr. Teen United States 2007 I was contacted back in February 2007 about participating in a state pageant. The local director was interviewing girls, and I liked that. My mom and I discussed it, and decided that it would be a good experience and help my confidence. I was only 14, and went into it without high expectations. The director had a several events and rehearsals where the contestants got to know each other, and I felt really comfortable over the 2 days of competing. My mom bought me a bathing suit from Target, and $20 interview suit from Body Central; but she did go a little out on the evening gown - after all, I was going to prom this year with my boyfriend, and I could wear the dress twice! The evening of the competition came around, and I actually won best evening gown (thanks mom!). Then as they announced the winners, I was completely shocked when they announced "Megan Evans, your new 2007 Miss Virginia Jr. Teen United States!" My feet didn't touch the ground for weeks, and we were headed for Vegas in late July for the national pageant! I had an absolute blast! I came away with new friends and so many memories. I was a top 5 finalist and won Miss Photogenic! Not to shabby for someone who had never competed before! My mom was my rock, along with our pageant director, Chris. Without them, I would have never been able to accomplish this. I look forward to completing the remainder of my state reign by continuing to make appearances at local events. One of my purposes of doing this pageant was to raise awareness of Juvenile Diabetes, which my younger sister was diagnosed with 4 years ago. I completely dedicate my reign to Paige - one day we'll knock that disease right out of the park!
