Keeping your skin clear of Bacteria Infections for children and teens.
MRSA is a bacteria staph infection that is on the rise and cause for school closings from day care centers to high schools.
Here are some simple tips to help keep Staph Bacteria Infections at bay.
One of the best ways is to stay healthy keeping a good diet building a strong immune system while keeping antibiotics to a very
minimal and only used when absolutely necessary. One way to keep your immune system strong is to PH balance your body.
Sugars and artifical colors and ingredients can make your immune system weak and that makes it easy to get infections and get sick.
Places that spread infections:
- gyms
- gym locker rooms
- sporting equipment
- day care centers
- schools
- hospitals
Antibiotic-resistant staph infections, usually involving the skin, are showing up more often among healthy people especially among children and teens.
Here are some prevention tips:
- Wash hands thoroughly and often with soap and water.
- Keep cuts and abrasions clean and covered with a bandage until healed.
- Avoid contact with other people’s wounds or material contaminated by wounds.
- Do not share items such as razors, soap, ointments and balms, towels or wash cloths, clothing or uniforms.
- If participating in contact sports, cover cuts, scrapes and other wounds with a bandage.
- Shower with soap immediately after each practice or game. Wipe down all nonwashable equipment (mats, head protectors,
gymnastics equipment, etc.) with alcohol or alcohol based solution after each person uses it.
- If caring for someone with an infection at home, wash hands with soap after each physical contact and before going outside.
Only use towels for drying hands once. Change and launder linens frequently, right away if they are soiled.
- When contact with body fluids is expected, wear disposable gloves and wash hands after removing them.
- See a physician promptly if you have a suspicious skin sore or boil. If unsure go to the emergency room.
Two Main causes are:
over use of antibiotics in our enviorment such as antibacterial chemicals to clean our homes, hand cleansers, floor cleaners
over prescribed antibiotics for virus infections.. antibiotics do not cure virus.
If you suspect you have a cut that may be infected cover it immediatly - we recommend band aids with silver as silver is a natural antibiotic. Seek medical attention right away.
Tell your parents if you are not sure if a cut is infected.
If you are at school tell your teachers
At a sporting event tell your coach
and always remember never use anyone else's things like towels
